Havasu Council considers adding downtown parking

LAKE HAVASU CITY – The Lake Havasu Police Department discussed rules of the road regarding the traffic collision incidents with bicyclists. The idea is to include current technology with present ordinances for riders.

The police department would like to prevent accidents with drivers involving electric scooters, skate boards, electric bicycles, etc. Council members passed the motion to establish regulations to ensure the safety of riders in the Lake Havasu community.

Especially youths and the seniors, the most common users of the recreational activity. The police department also talked about hiring two interns for their law enforcement team on January 1.

Interns must be a cadet for six months and be at least 21 years of age before becoming an intern. They will assist police officers with duties such as enforcing city code violations, delayed theft reports, and other needed tasks.

The interns will be groomed to someday join the police force. The Downtown Lake Havasu Association group passed a law with the city to enhance parking options for downtown business owners and customers.

As the downtown area continues to grow, the selected zones one and five will now provide two-hour parking Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Zone one will have six parking signs while zone five will have four.
