Havasu city council votes to change procurement requirements

Editor’s Note: The printed version of this story stated that procurement costs requiring city council approval was being raised from $50. The correct amount is $50,000. The web version has been corrected.

LAKE HAVASU CITY – An update was given to the Lake Havasu community last week regarding the public education plan for 2026. Now the plan will be arranged for public involvement for the General Plan process that is a requirement under the Arizona statute.

Procurement city codes will soon be changed. The buying approach will be higher for purchases costing over $100,000 per city code change.

City council is required to approve this and presently, purchases at a cost of over $50,000 require approval from city council. A schedule change will be taking place for the municipal court fee.

The Municipal Court Administrative Fee Schedule and Jail Cost Recovery for Lake Havasu will also be modified to a rate of $10 to $20. Mohave County passed this increase of bond fees to follow the guidelines from the legislative action by the state.
