Harrison Properties continues search for local DES base

The company asked Mohave County about using some of its nearby property to develop a 76 space parking area for a portion of the DES workforce. The proposed parking area is located on the north end of a 25 acre strip of county-owned property extending north from the library along Burbank St. toward Airway Ave.

Supervisor Gary Watson expressed reservation about such use, given the perceived value of the property as well as the City of Kingman’s interest in using it for soccer fields or possibly a lake. The Board voted against further consideration of a parking project deal.

Harrison Properties had previously pondered possible placement of the DES operations at another site located on the southwest corner of Western Ave. and Riata Valley Road. Rezoning and plan amendment applications for that parcel were withdrawn in early Dec. after the location and use drew opposition from nearby residents.

Harrison Properties Vice President Jeff Dalton has said the company is also eyeing another undisclosed location where a build to suit office space project is contemplated.
