GV murder investigation underway

GOLDEN VALLEY – A murder investigation is underway in Golden Valley and the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is hoping citizens in the know can provide helpful information. Deputies responded at about 8:00 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25 when a woman who resides elsewhere in Golden Valley reported a man had been shot in the 2500 block of Naco Rd.

“Deputies arrived on scene and observed the reporting party leading them to the victim, who was unresponsive,” said MCSO spokeswoman Anita Mortensen. “Deputies initiated life-saving measures but the victim succumbed to his injuries.”

Mortensen said the victim has been identified as Richard William Ward, 40, Las Vegas. Mortensen was said it is not clear what connection Ward may have had with the property or its occupants.

“We are actively seeking anyone who may have information regarding this incident,” Mortensen said. Anyone with information can contact the Detective Division at 928-753-0753 or call toll free at 1-800-522-4312.
