LAKE HAVASU CITY – The person of the hour of last week’s Lake Havasu City Council meeting was twelve year old Bliss Fiala. Last month Fiala heard someone calling for help.
That someone turned out to be 77-year-old Patti Gant who had fallen down days prior in her garage floor and was not able to move. Fiala got her grandmother Linda Kalk and returned to Gant by climbing a fence and located an injured Gant. At the meeting, the young girl was rewarded with a Good Samaritan Award and certificate presented by Police Chief Troy Sterling and Fire Chief Peter Pilafas.
December is the month that board members vote on who will be the next vice mayor. Board Member Cameron Moses was selected to take the place of current Vice Mayor David Lane. Some Vice mayor duties usually come into play when the mayor cannot be present at assigned functions and meetings.
Changes were made for ratification of grant applications. The application was provided to Arizona State Parks and Trails for purchase for two off highway cars intended for the Lake Havasu City Police Department. The purpose of this would be to give public safety services for 35-square miles of desert that is open.
The city entered an agreement with American Guard Services. The company will be providing security at Lake Havasu’s new Municipal Courthouse. Their service will include security screenings for everyone entering the courthouse.
