Good, Bad, Ugly

Dear Editor,

Right now, there are three groups of Property Owners who want to start up a Valle Vista Fire District, which would include Valle Vista, Hackberry, Valentine, and Truxton. They want to break away from Northern AZ. Fire District and the Fire Board and the Fire Chief.

The first group is for the Northern AZ. Fire Dept. and has received good and prompt service and they have saved lives and property and they are very happy with NAFD.

The second group are Property Owners that have had bad service and have lost lives and property because they got lost.

Then you have the third group of Property Owners who couldn’t care less. They don’t even pay their property taxes because there is not enough resources and money, and they don’t get fast service. Why? I don’t know.

So with all this in mind, I feel this is not a good time to start up a new Fire Dept.

If the NAFD is now spending $750,000 or our District now and Mohave County Assessors say we would only get $500,000 for our budget if we start up a new Fire District. Shall I go on?

Then there’s the problem if we fail after a year or two. Who would take us back? The NAFD Fire Dept. or the State? No one knows. Why? I don’t know.

I feel we should stay with NAFD and change how the Fire Board thinks and the Fire Chief’s way and work together for the betterment of all Districts.

If the number 1 District Supervisor and the NAFD and Deputy Chief of the Sheriffs could get together to work a possibility of a sub-station of County Sheriffs for the area of Valle Vista, Hackberry, Truxton, and Valentine would be a good thing for these communities.

These are the good, bad, and ugly of the situations that are going on right now.

It’s your choice.

  1. IF….. your numbers are correct then the new fire district CANNOT support its self, it would be $250,000 short of what it needed to maintain its current level of support, which means INCREASED TAXES! it is my opinion that the leaders of this push , are seeking employment, and do not have the publics best interest in mind,
