LAKE HAVASU CITY – It was an especially moving evening for the military moms of Lake Havasu recently as the community honored the mothers of veterans who lost their children while serving this country.

The ceremony took place on Sunday, Sept. 29 at Wheeler Park. Gold Star Mothers Incorporated was created to keep the legacy alive of the fallen children who dedicated their time and service in the military.

The last day Sunday in September is when the mothers who have lost sons and daughters honor their children with a candlelight ceremony in remembrance of their bravery. Many residents of the community attended this annual event along with the Marine Corp League, city council members, and keynote speakers like Mayor Sheehy, Judge Kalauli of Lake Havasu City Veterans Resource Team, and Arizona House Representative Leo Biasiucci, all showed up to give their support to our military moms.

Candles were lit to keep Gold Star mothers and families in our hearts, thoughts, and prayers. The ceremony was not only intended to honor the mothers and children, but also to the daughters and sons currently serving to protect the freedoms of American people.
