LAKE HAVASU CITY — The first day of summer will be returning this Friday, just in time to plan the perfect day investigating the many thrifty gems of Lake Havasu.
Enthusiasts of nature and wildlife can fully indulge in the beauty and magic of Bill Williams River National Wildlife Refuge. The historic park is where you can find amphibians, indigenous wildlife, mammals, reptiles, and butterflies, and gorgeous sunsets.
You can also make a stop at Lake Havasu’s Museum of History. Visitors can learn about the rich memoirs of the city along with information about dam-builders, archaic people, and miners.
Don’t forget to visit the Havasu Rocks portion of the museum, courtesy of the Lake Havasu Gem and Mineral Society. The nonprofit club prides themselves on educating the community about fossils, minerals, and gems.
Our local library is also an awesome place to seek out more free activities. Aside from books, the Havasu library has weekly events for both adults and children.
You can tune in on your creative side by attending weekly clubs like Knotty Knitters or Get Crafty. Parents can bring their toddlers to the library’s weekly Baby Jamboree for songs and rhymes.
Finally, strolling along the channel to take in the sights of the archival London Bridge is a favorite not just for summer visitors, but also yearly residents. With the reinforced concrete structure clad from the original 1830s bridge, the attraction is a must see during the day and even more stunning in the evenings. It’s that time of year to dive in and take advantage of all the wonderful explorations this town has to offer.
