Four-year-old fatal waterway case coming to a close with plea deal

KINGMAN – A California man has entered a plea agreement in Kingman that will resolve a four-year-old waterway fatality case. Kevin Morgon, 47, pleaded guilty Sept. 24 to negligent homicide and aggravated assault.

Authorities said a boat operated by Morgon struck a personal watercraft on the Colorado River at Davis Camp in Bullhead City in April 2016. A 13-year-old girl on the watercraft, Guadalupe Rodriguez, San Bernardino, was fatally injured.

The teen’s younger sister and their mother were seriously injured in the crash. Morgon was allegedly intoxicated at the time of the crash, though a related charge is dismissed in the plea deal.

Morgon is eligible for probation but he can also get up to 3.75-years in prison when sentenced Oct. 22 by Mohave County Superior Court judge Rick Lambert.
