Four teens arrested following Kingman crime spree

KINGMAN — Four teenagers face charges following a drive-by shooting incident that wounded a Kingman man on Sunday, June 1. Deputy Kingman police chief Joel Freed said officers responded at 7:00 a.m. to a shooting in the 600 block of Hall Street.

While enroute, officers were advised that the 42-year-old victim had driven himself to Kingman Regional Medical Center for treatment of a gunshot wound to the leg.

“Investigators learned that a confrontation had occurred between the victim, the victim’s son and a vehicle occupied by multiple juveniles,” Freed said. “One of the juvenile males fired one shot at the victim striking him in the right leg before speeding off.”

Freed said it was determined that the 2020 four-door sedan that fled the shooting scene had been stolen earlier in the morning from an apartment complex in the 3300 block of Harrison Street. He said that Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers at 7:45 a.m. spotted that suspect vehicle on SR 95 south of Interstate 40 vehicle that eluded pursuit in Lake Havasu City.

“The vehicle was later located abandoned in Lake Havasu City,” Freed said. “Investigators learned that the juveniles stole another vehicle in Lake Havasu City and returned to Kingman.”

Police and Mohave County Sheriff’s Office personnel responded at 8:30 p.m. to a home in the 2800 block of East Casa Bonita Avenue to apprehend the suspects. Freed said they arrested a girl and two boys 15 years of age, and a 13-year-old boy. Authorities are still looking for another male juvenile suspect.

The victim was reportedly treated at Kingman Regional Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries. Investigation continues by Kingman and Lake Havasu City police and the Sheriff’s Office.
