Foster extends thanks for community support

To the Amazing People in Supervisorial District 1:

Thank you to those who believed in me, voted for me, worked on fundraisers, walked with me and opened your hearts as well as your wallets.  I am not a financially wealthy person and appreciate all of those who contributed to my campaign (both large and small). This enabled me to run a competitive campaign.

It is not in my DNA to talk incessantly about myself (but it is often expected in political campaigns); rather, I wanted to hear about YOU.  As I often said, for me it is more personal than political.  I had a genuine, personal interest in each person I met and enjoyed hearing your stories, concerns and issues.  Mohave County has so many great people who want to be listened to, taken seriously and given assistance with specific problems.

Many of you have been ignored by your County government and representatives.  I heard you loud and clear.  You were never seen by me as merely voters; but, rather, as my friends and neighbors — people I hoped to be given the great opportunity to represent in the best way possible.  I never pander — and when I wrote that I love Mohave County and its residents, I meant it from the bottom of my heart.  I care about you and the future of Mohave County.  Otherwise, I would not even be here.

Although I did not garner enough votes to be your representative, I am greatly enriched by the many new friends I made (and old friendships rekindled) as I traveled around District 1. I started knocking on doors in November, 2019 and knocked on the last one on August 1, 2020.

Thank you to those who received me favorably, offered me water on hot days; invited me into your homes to have a conversation and to warm up on bitterly cold (and sometimes rainy) days; and generally extended your friendship and support.  You have warmed my heart and renewed my faith in humanity.  Your humanity and kindness far outweighs the few vile, hateful pieces of correspondence and mean Facebook posts that I received.

Lastly, I commend Representative Regina Cobb and Travis Lingenfelter for their ingenious and successful political campaign to capture the nomination for Supervisor District 1.  That was nothing short of an amazing and clever feat.

It is my sincere hope that Travis will rise to the occasion and provide first class representation – to everyone, not just the political elite of Kingman; provide transparency in government; reign in county spending; keep taxes low; and effect a thorough review of planning and zoning regulations/ordinances; building codes; and personnel policies and procedures/salaries.  It is up to all of us to be vigilant and demand accountability.

Thank you District 1, you ROCK!
