Fort Mohave man stabs his mother the day before Mother’s Day

FORT MOHAVE — A man stabbed his own mother at the home they share in Fort Mohave the day before Mother’s Day, according to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).

Agency spokeswoman Emily Mortensen said the Fort Mohave Fire Department reported at 7:46 p.m. on Saturday, March 10 that a male subject entered the fire station confessing that he had stabbed someone. Fire department personnel detained Alexander Walsh, 37, for arriving deputies.

“It was learned that Walsh had stabbed his 52-year-old mother at their residence located in the 4400 block of Avenida Chico, which was down the street from the fire department,” Mortensen said. She said the victim was located in the residence, transported to Valley View Medical Center and flown to Las Vegas for further treatment.

“Evidence of the crime was located on scene,” Mortensen said. “The investigation revealed that an argument occurred between Walsh and his mother, leading to Walsh stabbing her multiple times.”

Mortensen said the victim was in stable condition Monday afternoon, May 12. Walsh is held in the Adult Detention Facility in Kingman for attempted murder.
