KINGMAN – Not guilty pleas have been entered for the third grade school teacher whose employment was terminated following his Nov. 19 arrest at Cerbat Elementary School in Kingman. Allen Long, 28, Meadview, appeared at the Law and Justice Center for his Dec. 6 arraignment.
A Probable Cause statement indicated that the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force alerted the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office in April, 2021 that child pornography material had possibly been uploaded from electronic addresses traced to Long. The PC indicated that Long was questioned about child pornography involvement following a Sept. 24, traffic stop.
“Allen stated he did view child pornography on Kik, but it was stuff in the chat and that he did not upload it,” the PC statement said. “Allen described the photos as the subjects who were nude and minors.”
A search of Long’s vehicle and home prompted seizure of his cell phone, two laptops and other items.
Long was arrested for two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor for material found in his phone. He was indicted for five offenses, and additional counts are expected.
“The investigation is very much ongoing and I anticipate additional charges will be filed,” Deputy Mohave County Attorney Karolina Czaplinska told Judge Doug Camacho during Long’s arraignment. She noted that additional charge contemplations complicate the plea agreement offer she intends to extend before Christmas.
Judge Camacho informed the defendant that each exploitation charge is punishable by 10-24 years in prison and that Arizona law requires consecutive sentences for each conviction. Camacho directed Long to next appear at a Dec. 30 pretrial conference hearing.
