PARKER — Jennifer Alcaida intends to accept a mandatory prison plea agreement for stealing from the town of Parker, her former longtime employer. The revelation came during a Monday status hearing at the Mohave County Law and Justice Center in Kingman.
Judge Billy Sipe scheduled a January 6 change of plea hearing for Alcaida, 49.
Separate plea offers to resolve Alcaida’s case were detailed during a December 10 settlement conference. It’s not yet clear if she will take the deal that requires a 3.5-year prison term or choose the option that allows the Court to decide between 2.5-5 years in prison.
Alcaida is charged with multiple fraud, forgery and theft counts for allegedly embezzling from the town of Parker, her former employer of more than 20 years.
Arizona Assistant attorney general Joshua Conway said the state is seeking restitution totaling $173,000. The loss is associated with check forgeries and deposits, theft of cash and misuse of credit cards.
Alcaida’s decision to enter a plea agreement came five days after she was told maximum punishment if convicted of all counts at trial would be 69.5-years in prison.
