FOP hosts tribute, remembrance of officers

KINGMAN – On Wednesday, May 13, the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Mohave Lodge 16 hosted a tribute and remembrance of all police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.  The solemn ceremony was arranged by FOP President John Slaughter who also designed and created the wreath honoring the fallen. Various other FOP members participated.

The memorial includes all officers from Mohave County (including canine officers). Departments represented are The AZ Dept. of Public Safety, AZ Game and Fish, Bullhead City Police, Colorado City Police, Fort Mohave Police, Hualapai Nation Police, Kingman Police, Mohave County Constable, Mohave County Park Police and Mohave County Sheriff. Participating in the ceremony were members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars(VFW) Post 3513 and the Color Guard.

VFW members delivered individual black roses to the monument as each departed officer’s name was called, placed the roses in a bouquet at the base of the monument and saluted the slain officer.  A recording of TAPS was played and there was a speech by Mohave County Sheriff Doug Schuster as well as Wesley Mahoney, Vice-President of the Kingman FOP Lodge 16.
