Fire district recall afoot

FT. MOHAVE – A former Fort Mojave Mesa Fire District governing board member is targeting three current members for recall. The Mohave County Elections Department confirms that Keith Parker picked up recall papers on Aug. 31.

Parker proposes the ouster of Chairman Michael Bell and board members Larry Morse and Catherine Lopez-Rajaniemi for their initial Aug. 22 vote to terminate the employment contract of Fire Chief Chris Pardi. Community pushback saw Morse change his vote during an Aug. 29 board meeting to keep Pardi as Chief.

The elections office said Parker must collect 1099 valid recall signatures for each target by Dec. 29 to subject them to a recall election next year.
