Fire destroys several homes in north Kingman

KINGMAN — Fire ravaged five structures in north Kingman Tuesday, May 12. Personnel from the Kingman Fire Department, Northern Arizona Fire and the Pinion Pine Fire District rushed to the conflagration at the intersection of N Sierra Road, Arnold Road and Edward Lane at 5:10 p.m.

No one was injured, according to Beth Matthews, Public Information Officer for the Kingman Fire Department. She said one dog and one cat remained missing the day after the fire.

“The event resulted in a total loss, including one unoccupied framed home, a detached garage and three mobile homes,” Matthews said. More than two dozen firefighters and ten apparatus were used to battle the blaze on a blustery day.

“The cause of the fire is believed to be human and unintentional, and is still under investigation by the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office,” Matthews said. She said the Red Cross was notified to assist seven displaced individuals.
