Felix thankful after eight year prison sentence

Ernie Felix

A Bullhead City man involved in a violent robbery thanked his attorney and Judge Billy Sipe when he was sentenced to prison for eight years Thursday. Ernie Felix, 29, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in a deal that dismissed armed robbery, kidnapping and burglary charges.

Felix and co-defendant Sigifredo Herrera-Arteaga, 32, reportedly accosted the victim in the driveway of his home in the 1800 block of Montclair Drive in July, 2017. Prosecutor Kellen Marlow said Herrera-Arteaga dragged the man from a vehicle and pistol whipped him in the head, telling him he was going to kill him.

Police said the man was ordered into his home where the assault continued while Felix threatened him at knifepoint. Felix and Herrera-Arteaga took jewelry, sunglasses, a firearm and some marijuana from the home before driving away in the victim’s truck.

“I’m guilty sir. I’m very guilty. And I want to take full responsibility,” Felix told Judge Sipe. “I’ve done something bad and I am truly, truly sorry.”

Felix told Sipe that he would use his time in prison to better himself and prepare to be a productive citizen upon release. The case against Herrera-Artiega is still pending.
