Family Fun Zone opens

KINGMAN – Batting cages are the anchor for a family fun center Mike Quinn has opened on Northern Avenue at Lomita in Kingman. Quinn’s Cages feature three hitting areas occupying 3,500 sq. ft. inside an 8,300 sq. ft. building.

“We have three automatic cages for baseball and softball,” Quinn said. “The softball ranges from slow pitch to fast pitch all the way up to 60 miles per hour. “

Quinn said the machines can hurl a baseball at 70 miles an hour, but it’s more like 80 miles an hour given the distance from the apparatus to the batter’s box. Quinn said he’ll be installing two more training stations for ballplayers and may put a pitching mound outdoors in the future.

The facility is already equipped with basketball and football tossing games. A bubble hockey game is in place and a pinball machine is coming. Customers can keep their eyes on television screens and ballgames in progress.

“There’s a lot more to come. We have golf simulators coming in the next 3-4 weeks,” Quinn said. “I want this to be a miniature family entertainment center. This will be a great place for families to hang out.”

The business plan includes opportunity for customers to book the facility for birthday parties and other occasions.

Quinn’s Cages is open from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Quinn hopes residents will stop in, enjoy the activity mix and provide input as he contemplates additions expansion over time.

“My intention is to do something for the kids in this town,” Quinn said. “Ever since I was little everybody has complained about not enough things for kids to do here.”
