Expect daytime restrictions on US 93 near Wikieup April 10 through April 25 for paving project

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises motorists traveling on US 93 near the community of Wikieup to expect daytime restrictions starting this week along a 10-mile section of the highway.

The paving work is scheduled from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, beginning Wednesday, April 10, through Thursday, April 25. The following restrictions will be in place:

  • US 93 will be intermittently narrowed to one lane only with alternating north- and southbound travel between Cedar Mine and Wikieup Hills roads (mileposts 120 to 130).
  • Drivers should be prepared to come to a complete stop when approaching and driving through the work zone.
  • Flaggers and a pilot car will assist drivers through the work zone.
  • A 14-foot vehicle width restriction will be in place, and the speed limit will be reduced in the work zone.

The project elements include:

  • Removing the top layer of the riding surface and replacing it with new pavement.
  • Making spot pavement repairs, applying new pavement markings and other related work.

ADOT reminds drivers to watch for construction personnel and equipment while construction is underway.
