Evonne Pearl Gray

Evonne, affectionately known as Evonne Pearl Gray, 81, of Kingman, Arizona, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025. Born on June 27, 1944, in Chatsworth, California, to Leonard and Charlotte Johnson Rieghtley, Evonne grew up surrounded by family and a deep-rooted love for nature and hard work.

A proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Evonne was the heart of her family. She raised her five children—Raymie, Kenneth, Chyerl, Cindy, and Robert—on a family farm alongside her beloved partner, Charles Evans, who became a cherished father figure to them. Known for her strength and independence, Evonne earned her master’s degree in business and dedicated her career to guiding and caring for youth as a Juvenile Detention Officer.

Evonne found joy in the outdoors, whether tending her garden, caring for animals, or exploring the world’s natural wonders. After raising her family, she embraced adventure—bungee jumping in Las Vegas, parasailing in Hawaii, and even chasing a bear in Alaska for the perfect picture.

Genuine and warm-hearted, Evonne’s laughter, compassion, and strength will forever inspire those who knew her. A private family celebration of life will be held.

“You are my sunshine, my only sunshine … you’ll never know, dear, how much I love you.” Evonne was the rock and strength of her family and will be dearly missed.

Sutton Memorial Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
