EPCOR seeks rate increase

BULLHEAD CITY – The water company that Bullhead City is trying to take over by eminent domain has filed another rate increase. It was a history of frequent rate hikes that motivated Bullhead City to file condemnation litigation targeting local EPCOR water company assets.

City Manager Toby Cotter told council members last week that EPCOR’s request before the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) would raise some local rates by 16% and others by as much as 27%. He said the company aims to generate nearly an additional $2 million from its Bullhead City area service territory.

Cotter said Bullhead City will also be opposing the consolidation components of EPCOR’s filing with the ACC.
