Duarte faces up to 2.5 years for voyeurism

Ronald Duarte

Using a camera to peer up a woman’s dress for purpose of personal stimulation could bring a prison term for a Mohave Valley man. Ronald Duarte, 36, pleaded guilty Friday to one count of voyeurism.

Prosecutor Amanda Claerhout said a woman who was in the hair product aisle at the Highway 95 Walmart in Fort Mohave last September observed a man on his knees pointing a camera up and underneath a dress. Claerhout said the man smiled and walked away when the victim asked what he was doing.

The incident was captured on surveillance video and citizen tips helped authorities identify the subject as Duarte when the images circulated in local media. Duarte admitted that his behavior was sexually motivated when questioned by Judge Billy Sipe.

Judge Sipe has broad discretion at a June 5 sentencing hearing. Duarte faces as little as probation or up to 2.5 years in prison.
