Deray Smith arrested on assault, criminal damages charges

Deray Smith

KINGMAN – Mohave County Sheriff’s Office arrested Deray Sonson Smith, 28, of Kingman, for assault, aggravated assault, disorderly conduct, and criminal damage, all felonies. On Friday, Jan. 18, at approximately 8:50 p.m., deputies responded to a residence in the 3700 block of Shaeffer Ave. in reference to a domestic violence situation.

While responding, deputies observed a male subject, later identified as Smith, walking east on Shaeffer away from the residence and made contact. Smith stated he had left the residence five minutes prior.

Upon arrival at the residence, the victim advised that she had returned home with her child and found the house was a mess and observed holes in the ceiling. When she confronted Smith and told him to leave, he pushed her down and began yelling at her. The victim’s young child yelled at Smith to stop, and was also shoved down by Smith, hitting her head against a wall. An interview with the child confirmed the victim’s statements. Deray Sonson Smith was arrested and bookedinto Mohave County Jail without incident.
