County’s Corner

As your elected Mohave County Treasurer, I am excited and honored to represent the people of Mohave County. As we continue through another new year together, I’m looking forward to serving the needs of our county.

February is an eventful month for the Treasurer’s Office. Mohave County’s annual Tax Lien Sale is scheduled February 1st-20th, 2024. This online auction will be hosted by Real Auction at https://mohave.arizonataxsale.com.

The Tax Lien Sale is an opportunity to pay the delinquent taxes of another’s property through the auction process in exchange for a tax lien. This process enables tax authorities such as fire, library, and school districts to receive funds that otherwise would not have been received.

The competitive process of an online auction often produces a reduced interest rate for the delinquent taxes owed, while the purchaser can earn higher-than-market returns on their investment at the small initial cost of purchasing the lien. Overall, the Tax Lien Sale is a great benefit to the county, our taxpayers, and our investors.

It is important to understand that the Tax Lien Sale is simply the opportunity for someone to pay delinquent property taxes on behalf of the property owner in exchange for a lien on the property. The Tax Lien Sale is NOT an outright sale of property.

If you are interested in purchasing property outright, the annual Tax Deed Sale is better suited to your needs. The Tax Deed Sale is an online auction wherein the winning bidder is awarded ownership of the property. After the sale, the winning bidder will be provided a quit claim deed to legally transfer ownership.

The 2024 Tax Deed Sale will be introduced to the Board of Supervisors for approval on February 5, 2024. Once approved, the auction will be scheduled for March 4th-8th, 2024. A total of 2,911 parcels are slated for the upcoming Tax Deed Sale. If you are interested in participating, the most up to date information can be found on the Clerk of the Board’s website at www.mohave.gov.

As a reminder, the due date for the second installment of 2023 property taxes is March 1, 2024, and remaining taxes will become delinquent after May 1, 2024.

Our office is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Property taxes can be paid online, by mail, in-person at Kingman’s Mohave County Administration building or by phone by calling Point and Pay at (855) 814-6451.

We also have drop boxes available in Bullhead City, Kingman, and Lake Havasu City at these addresses:
