KINGMAN — American Society of Civil Engineers representative Seth Chalmers (left) presents the National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark plaque to Mohave County Director of Engineers Steven Latoski (right), recognizing Route 66 for its landmark contributions to American civil engineering.
The presentation was held during the opening ceremonies of Kingman’s stop on the 2026 Hemmings Great Race, where city officials, tourism staff, and early spectators gathered ahead of the racers’ noon arrival.
As the first of roughly 150 vintage automobiles began filtering into Locomotive Park, the plaque served as a reminder of Kingman’s deep ties to the Mother Road—now celebrating its centennial.
