Community invited to tree planting for Arbor Day

Mike Gauthier

The Kingman Community Arbor Day Celebration and Tree-Planting will take place Saturday, April 27, at 10:00 a.m. in Firefighters’ Park (2201 Detroit Ave.) Cerbat Garden club will be presenting awards and prizes to the 27 student poster contest winners, the Mayor will be reading the Arbor Day Proclamation, and Clean City Commission has purchased 6 pecan trees which will be planted in the park under the direction of the Kingman Area Master Gardeners. Kingman Parks and Rec Dept. is preparing the planting sites and irrigation before the tree-planting.

Fifth-grade students in area schools participated in the Arbor Day poster contest in March. The 348 students who submitted a poster received a Hackberry tree sapling to take home, plant, and grow.

Everyone is invited to help with planting the trees. Refreshments are being provided as well.
