Cliff diver drowns at Havasu

KINGMAN – A Kingman man reportedly died following a cliff dive at Lake Havasu. The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) identified the victim of the Saturday, Sept. 23 incident as Ethan Aguilar, 24.

MCSO personnel responded at 10:53 a.m. to a reported drowning in the area of the Standard Wash Cove in the southern portion of Lake Havasu.

“It was determined that the victim jumped from a 20 to 30-foot cliff and when he hit the water, he began to struggle,” a news release said. Aguilar was not wearing a personal flotation device and he slipped below the lake surface.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s office recovered Aguilar from about 18 feet of water. He was pronounced deceased after he was transported to Cattail Cove State Park.

The apparent drowning remains under investigation.
