KINGMAN – The City of Kingman Parks and Recreation Department is proud to announce it has been awarded a Fiscal Year (FY) 26 Transportation Alternatives Grant through the Western Arizona Council of Governments (WACOG) to construct a shared-use path along Omaha Drive between Southern Avenue and Cheyanne Avenue. The award provides a little over half a million dollars in funding through the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) Transportation Alternatives Program.
This investment will allow the City to complete a key segment of the Omaha shared-use path, improving connectivity and providing residents with more options for recreation, walking, running, and cycling. A shared-use path is a paved, ADA-accessible pathway designed for non-motorized transportation. Unlike a typical sidewalk or trail, a shared-use path is wider and built to safely accommodate multiple users traveling in both directions.
“This half-million-dollar grant is a big win for our community,” said Kingman Parks & Recreation Director, Mike Meersman. “This shared-use path will be an important connection for pedestrians and cyclists, making it safer and easier to get where they need to go.”
Construction timelines and additional project details will be announced as they become available.
