KINGMAN — The courts were buzzing with energy this past weekend as the Smash and Splash Pickleball Tournament, one of the region’s premier pickleball competitions, concluded with thrilling matchups and standout performances. Held at Centennial Park, the tournament drew nearly 70 competitors from across the Tri State, showcasing the explosive growth and community spirit of the sport.
Participants of the tournament were then invited to join an exclusive pool party for the players and their families at the Centennial Pool.
In the Men’s 2.5 Doubles Division, Dennis Farrington and Jamison Farrington clinched the gold with a hard-fought victory over Cole Garcia and John Venenga.
In the Men’s 3.25 Doubles Division, Garry Messer and Mark Turk took the top spot over the 2nd place team of John Cooper and Randy Newman. Rounding out 3rd place was the team of Doug Fiscus and Greg Smith.
In the Men’s 3.50 Doubles Division, the team of Victor Macias and Marco Saucedo were crowned champions with Patrick Ashenback and Ray White scoring a 2nd place finish.
On the women’s side, the Doubles 3.0 Division saw April Edmonson and Wendy Lewin dominate the court with a powerful run to the championship, culminating in a victory over Sharon Verhasselt and Sharon Newman who took 2nd. Marla Fowler and Michelle Justice scored a 3rd place finish.
In the Women’s 3.25 Doubles Division, Lisa Lliev and Shelia Sua roared to a 1st place finish over Nancee Black and Brenda Wandrei who took 2nd place. Our 3rd place finishers in this division were Karen Cooper and Deb Farah. The team of Audrey Pike and Mary Rebok were the highest ranked competing team who scored the 1st place finish in their division.
The Mixed Doubles 3.0 Division final brought fans to their feet as Keith Newsome and Lana Newsome edged out Gary Messer and Lisa Messer in a tightly contested match. David Marx and Tee Acuna racked up a 3rd place finish in this packed division.
The Mixed Doubles 3.25 Division culminated with Lisa Lliev and Mark Turk scoring a 1st place finish over Doug Fiscus and Audrey Pike who finished 2nd. Our 3rd place finishers were Mary Rebok and Tim Redwine.
The Mixed Doubles 3.5 Division showed the team of Andrea Penn and Ian Penn clinching the 1st place finish over Nancee Black and Ray White who came in 2nd.
