Waterline improvement requires nighttime closure on McCulloch

LAKE HAVASU CITY – A temporary road closure of McCulloch Boulevard is required for Public Works Infrastructure Improvements.  In an effort to reduce the impact to local businesses and motorist, contractors will be working at night to improve the water system. 

McCulloch Boulevard from Capri Lane to Smoketree Avenue is closed to thru traffic next Monday, August 12, at 7:00 p.m., and is scheduled to reopen the following morning on August 13, at 3:00 a.m.

Mosquito fogging next week at River Valley High

MOHAVE VALLEY – Mosquito control (fogging) and suppression (larvicide) treatments will be applied at River Valley High School in Mohave Valley the week of August 12-16, as coordinated by the Mohave County Department of Public Health, Environmental Health Division (MCDPH-EHD). MCC Kingman Campus student awarded the Empowering Diversity Scholarship

MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave Community College student Faith Ladson has been awarded the Empowering Diversity Scholarship from the Fiesta Bowl Organization and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona. She was awarded $5,500 to go towards continuing her education. Of the 15 post-secondary scholarship recipients, Ladson was the only student awarded the scholarship that is attending a community college in Arizona.

PHOENIX (AP) — Mexican farm worker Avelino Vazquez Navarro didn’t have air conditioning in the motor home where he died last month in Washington state as temperatures surged into the triple digits.

For the last dozen years, the 61-year-old spent much of the year working near Pasco, Washington, sending money to his wife and daughters in the Pacific coast state of Nayarit, Mexico, and traveling back every Christmas.
