Saturday, April 6, College Park Community Church hosted a Yard Sale Fundraiser for their Youth Camp Fund. There were volunteers of all ages out helping with the cause along with some of the youth group and about 10 others. Wednesday, April 3, Kingman High School hosted its first track meet of the season at their beautiful new track. The stands were filled with spectators, anxious athletes and screaming fans as the event began. With more than eight different teams in attendance, more volunteers than anyone could count and friends and family on the sidelines this event was one for the books. The All Starz Academy Gymnastics Team took part in the Arizona State Xcel Gymnastics Championship on March 2 through 31, in Glendale. Head coach and owner, Brandee Proffit said, “The team had a fantastic showing with lots of impressive scores and places. I am so proud of their accomplishments.” The Arizona State Xcel Gymnastics Championship has three different levels of competition. The first level is xcel bronze; the second, xcel silver; and the third, xcel gold. In these categories, seven Kingman girls from the academy took top medals at the state championships. A new teacher salary report from the National Education Association (NEA) shows that while Arizona moved up one rank, our teachers are still $11,890 below the national average and when adjusted for inflation, Arizona teacher salaries have decreased by 9.8 percent from Fiscal Year (FY) 2008 to FY2017. “Teachers in Arizona are called to this profession because they want to make a difference in the lives of their students,” says AEA President Joe Thomas. “That means the state needs to provide adequate resources and support the success of our students, support staff, and teachers in our public schools.” Highlights from…
