KINGMAN – Slow-paced repairs have a popular downtown Kingman eatery tracking for reopening this spring. Like other restaurants, Calico’s was struggling through the pandemic when a ceiling and rooftop fire prompted its closure on Aug. 30. New trusses are installed and the building on Beale St. has a brand-new roof. Co-owner Rhonda Chapman said Calico’s could reopen in a couple of months. “I was hoping for April, but now I’m hoping for May,” Chapman said. KINGMAN – Kingman Mayor Jen Miles has been notified that signatures on petitions proposing her recall from office have been validated by the Mohave County Recorder’s Office. Miles said the office has determined that the petitions bear 1,512 valid signatures, 128 more than the minimum number required to qualify the question. Recall leader James Coffman said he initiated the recall last September largely in protest of the municipal mask mandate that was in effect at that time.
