MOHAVE COUNTY – The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is once again thanking Othram Inc. for its ongoing assistance in achieving positive identification in human remains cases. Agency spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said authorities now know the identity of the person whose remains were located and recovered from a wash near Pioneer Dr. and Laguna Rd. in Golden Valley in Oct., 2021. “Using advanced DNA testing and Forensic-Grade Genome Sequencing, Orthram Inc. was able to identify the remains as belonging to Christopher Canning, 60,” Mortensen said. The Bureau of Land Management has announced publication of a Public Land Order protecting 2,598 acres of public lands at the Bill Williams River National Wildlife Refuge from future mining for 100 years. These protections replace another recently expired order, securing important wildlife habitat and recreation opportunities managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service The Refuge is one of the best ecologically functioning riparian areas in the Southwestern United States. BULLHEAD CITY ­ The Bullhead City Police Department responded to a report of a deceased person inside a City parks public restroom on Tuesday, Aug. 8. At approximately 6 a.m., a parks employee reported a deceased man was found in the bathroom at Rotary Park, located in the 2300 block of Balboa Drive. The death investigation was handled by the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO). According to MCSO detectives, the cause of death is a suspected drug overdose, and no foul play was involved.
