Havasu clean up day slated

LAKE HAVASU CITY – It’s that time of year again when Lake Havasu’s summer ends and the Havasu Riviera Marine Association will sail in for their end of summer cleanup day. The Lake Havasu Marine Association (LHMA) is a nonprofit group that has a close relationship with stakeholders to support their ongoing efforts to conserve the environment.  

The riviera team needs personal watercraft, boater, and kayak enthusiasts to attend but, you don’t have to own a boat to participate.

Breast Cancer Awareness fundraisers help survivors

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Cancer Care Resource and Michael Alan Furnishings are bringing breast cancer awareness to the community again this year with two different annual fundraisers. Over the weekend, Cancer Care Resource held Havasu’s annual breast cancer awareness walk on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. under the London Bridge Stage.  

Cancer Care Resource operates under the Heidi Edwards Cooking for Cancer nonprofit. They raise funds to help cancer patients by partnering up with local restaurants that assist with their ongoing fundraisers.

SNAP benefits eligible for farmer’s market shopping

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Did you know that your supplemental nutrition assistance program (SNAP) benefits can be used at Lake Havasu’s Farmer’s Market? The Lake Havasu Farmer’s Market is a nonprofit by way of Havasu Together.  

March of this year is when the nonprofit began accepting SNAP payments at our local farmer’s market. The choice worked out well since in the previous month, the farmer’s market started accepting the Double Up Food Bucks program.

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Don’t let the warm temperatures of Lake Havasu fool you, autumn is here, just in time for the Havasu Health Foundation’s annual Health Fair. The foundation is all about spreading health care options throughout the community with their ongoing events.

With several healthcare Mohave County vendors expected to be in attendance this year, the event will have over fifty health and wellness vendors ready to share information about their products and services. The Havasu Regional Medical Health Center will be present showing the latest in cardiology care.

Mohave Historical Society Receives Art Donation

KINGMAN – The Mohave County Historical Society recently received a wonderful donation of Roy Purcell original artwork. Five pieces belonging to the collection of the late Dr. Reba Wells Grandrud, were donated by her daughter Nansi Martin.

These pieces were presented to the museum board on September 19th by Doctors Marshall and Jane Whitmire, longtime friends of Dr Grandrud. Purcell’s artwork is very well know and typically features landscape and mining scenes from Mohave and the surrounding counties.
