Speaking at Kingman Route 66 Rotary Club’s May 3rd meeting was Dorn (Pat) Farrell, President of Jerry Ambrose Veterans Council (shown right with club president Becky Fawson). Offering a hand up/not a hand out, the council’s goal is to provide a one-stop information center for Veterans and centralization of services. Farrell noted construction of the Arnold Plaza project is coming along and it will ultimately provide 25 apartments for transitional housing for homeless men and women Veterans. No injuries in fifth wheel trailer fire

Occupants safely evacuated after their neighbor alerted them that fire was burning underneath their 5th wheel trailer in Lake Havasu City. Fire department personnel responded at 1:00 p.m. last Friday to the incident in the 1900 block of Victoria Farms Road. One pet was rescued and another went missing as crews extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Firefighters stop fire from spreading past garage

No one was injured in an early Monday residential structure fire in Kingman. Public information officer Oscar Lopez said crews responded at 1:50 a.m. to the fire in the 800 block of Crestwood Lane. “Personnel found the area of origin in the garage and proceeded to knock down the fire,” Lopez said. “Crews were able to quickly bring the fire under control from the interior and kept it from spreading into other areas of the home and attic.” Lopez said personnel from the Northern Arizona Consolidated Fire District assisted. Cause of the fire is under investigation.

Body recovered in Lake Havasu, investigation underway

The body of a man who had been operating a remote controlled boat was recovered from Lake Havasu early Saturday. Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies responded at 6:45 a.m. to the area of Thompson Bay where various personal belongings were found along the shoreline and a remote controlled boat was spotted in the water near the buoy line.  Agency spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said it was determined that Edward Young, 59, Lake Havasu City, had been operating a boat in that area. She said Young’s body was located and recovered from ten feet of water about 75 feet from the shoreline.  …

River Valley Devils Carwash Fundraiser and FREE 2 Day Football Camp

The River Valley Devils Youth Football Program will be holding a special car wash fundraiser on Saturday, May 11 at O’Reilly Auto Parts, 4699 S. Hwy 95 in Bullhead City, beginning at 8 a.m. The proceeds from the fundraiser will help the organization reach their goal of $3,900 to cover the cost of reconditioning their existing 75 helmets as well as purchasing additional helmets and equipment.
