Both east- and westbound facilities west of Kingman are open The Haviland Rest Area along Interstate 40 west of Kingman has reopened after $3.6 million in improvements, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. The popular rest stop, which is located at milepost 23 about 30 miles west of Kingman, has upgraded restrooms, ramadas, vendor kiosks and utility infrastructure. New well equipment and a water transmission line were also part of the upgrades. Septic tanks and sewer lines were also replaced. Gurtler, Jr. announced July 18 the appointment of Megan McCoy to the position of Court Commissioner for the Mohave County Superior Court with an anticipated start date of August 5, 2019. Megan McCoy currently works at the Mohave County Attorney’s office and has been employed there since 2006. She was admitted to the practice of law in Arizona in 2006. A controversial resolution that would have imposed restrictions for circuses and other shows featuring dangerous exotic wild animals such as bears and elephants was not heard during Tuesday’s Kingman City council meeting.
