Judge rules that early signage illegal for Prop 415 opponents

MOHAVE COUNTY – A ruling by a judge in Kingman favors Bullhead City’s position that political signs supporting a “No” vote on Proposition 415 were put up about two weeks early.  Mohave County Superior Court Judge Lee Jantzen’s denial of a request for a temporary restraining order (TRO) allows the city to enforce its statutory interpretation that some 75 signs must be taken down because they can’t legally be posted until September 5, 60 days before voters decide the ballot proposition in the general election. Fieldhouse has ticket, shuttle, safety tips for Friday’s MHS-RVHS River Bowl

BULLHEAD CITY – When crosstown rivals Mohave and River Valley High Schools kick off the first football game at the Anderson Auto Group Fieldhouse on Friday, visitors are reminded to bring patience, but leave backpacks and chewing gum at home. Paint party renews old downtown building

KINGMAN – A row of painters that included Police Chief Bob Devries, Finance Director Tina Moline, Public Works Director Rob Owen and Chamber of Commerce President Becky Fawson worked Thursday morning to cover the orange and green color scheme that formerly decorated the Smoke Shop in downtown Kingman. Federal authorities provided permission to repaint the building at 417 Beale Street that was forfeited to the U.S. Marshals office and will be put on the market for sale. MCSO adds new K9 team

LAKE HAVASU CITY – The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office would like to introduce their newest K9 team, Deputy Shawn McCleary and Grimm. K9 Grimm was selected on May 30, and the team began training together at Adlerhorst Police Dog Handler School. The team graduated and earned their certifications on August 23, and now specialize in patrol, narcotics, and handler protection. Deputy McCleary and Grimm will be assigned to the Lake Havasu City area. Deputy McCleary is a 14-year employee with the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office, graduating from the academy in December 2004.
