Pucherelli receives prestigious reclamation award

A federal agency has recognized a woman working to find ways to reduce the numbers of mussels causing problems in area lakes and rivers. The Bureau of Reclamation’s Science and Technology Program focuses on providing innovative solutions for water and power challenges in the western United States. One research project stood out in 2018 and was recently selected as the Project of the Year.  The award was presented to Sherri Pucherelli for the project entitled, “Control of biofouling in hydropower cooling systems using hydro-optic ultraviolet light.” The award was selected for its positive impact to Reclamation, other federal and non-federal…

BCESD selects district veteran Stewart as new superintendent

Dr. Carolyn Stewart will be the next superintendent of the Bullhead City Elementary School District.  Stewart retired from the district in 2015 after 26 years as an elementary and junior high school principal. The 4-0 vote Wednesday night is contingent upon Stewart’s renewal of her Arizona educational certifications.  Board president Diane Beardsley said the goal is to have Stewart start as administrator of the grade K-8 district before current Supt. Benje Hookstra retires June 30. City of Kingman considers option to fund interchange project

The City of Kingman and a financial consultant are working to add a new option that could someday be used to help finance the Rancho Santa Fe interchange project. Mark Reader addressed city council members for 50 minutes Tuesday, explaining that Community Facilities Districts (CFD’s) can be formed to issue bonds to fund public infrastructure projects.    Reader has developed policies and guidelines that the Council may adopt, that would provide the opportunity for developers and residents to form districts to fund projects in the future. The City of Bullhead City has various Commission and Board seats available for citizens to serve as of July 1, 2019. The City Clerk’s Office is currently accepting applications from citizens interested in volunteering for the following positions.
