KINGMAN – Kingman will use internal promotion to select its next police chief according to City Manager Ron Foggin. He said assistant police chiefs Rusty Cooper and Evan Kunert are finalists to succeed retiring Chief Bob Devries. “Chief Devries has done a great job mentoring and putting his leadership team in a position to be able to take over when he leaves, which I am pleased about,” Foggin said. Lake Mead National Recreation Area welcomed 7.5 million recreation visitors to the park in 2019. It is the sixth most visited park in the entire National Park Service. An additional 7.6 million visitors traveled along main state highways and interstates in the park, including I-11. The park saw spikes in visitation at its Henderson, North Las Vegas, Overton and Bullhead City entry points, as well as an increase in visitation at Hemenway Harbor near Boulder City. KPD annual report for 2019 presented

Criminal case clearance rate is higher than national average Retiring Kingman Police Chief Bob Devries presented his last annual report during the March 3 City Council meeting. His biggest regret is that some manpower challenges limited Kingman Police Department (KPD) proactivity in 2019. “We did see a decline in our traffic stops,” Devries said. “We had a significant drop but our traffic division was cut and our officers were down by 20%.” Devries told council members arrest numbers were down slightly in 2019 but still pretty consistent with recent year’s past. He has demonstrated that he has the knowledge, experience, and determination to excel in his new rank at our Adult Detention Facility.
