Burtt takes plea in child porn case
LAKE HAVASU CITY – A Lake Havasu City resident has entered a mandatory prison plea agreement to resolve his child pornography case without a trial. Kyle Burtt, 29, will be convicted of three counts reduced to attempted sexual exploitation of a minor in the deal that dismisses seven other charges.
Burtt was arrested following an August 20 search of his home in the 1000 block of Vista Drive in an investigation conducted by the Arizona Attorney General’s Office.
At a November 25 change of plea hearing, Assistant state attorney general Carolina Lopez told Mohave County Superior Court Judge Derek Carlisle that the charges stem from Burtt cell phone files and images of children under the age of 15 engaged in sexually exploitive activity or display.
Terms of the deal require Carlisle to impose a five- to 15-year prison term at a December 23 sentencing hearing. Burtt will serve lifetime probation upon release, and be ordered to comply with registered sex offender protocols.
