Bullhead City Police Chief gets send off

BULLHEAD CITY – Bullhead City is bidding farewell to retiring Police Chief Brian Williamson. He’ll be stepping down September 1, after serving as Chief for six years.

Each of its elected officials offered accolades during last week’s Bullhead City Council meeting.

“Thank you for everything you’ve done for us, the community. You are a true leader, a true mentor,” said Council member Annette Wegmann. “We cannot thank you enough. You deserve to retire and move on to your next adventure. So, God bless you, be safe and good luck.”

“I’ve always admired the job that you’ve done for our police department. I think you are the consummate administrator, the consummate police officer,” Mayor Tom Brady said. “We are thankful for the service that you’ve given to our community and the police force that you’ve built through your own hard work.”

The Mayor and Council presented the exiting police Chief a large plaque designed in the form of his police badge.

“I thank you for the moving words. Most importantly, I thank you for the opportunity to serve,” Williamson said. “Serving Bullhead City and serving my country and serving Mohave County has been an absolute privilege. Serving as the police chief has been the honor of my life.”

Williamson will be honored in a private celebration at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 26 that the public can monitor on the police department’s Facebook page. Community participation is welcome during a 10:00 a.m. motorcade salute with Williamson stationed by the flagpoles outside the Bullhead City Council chambers.

Captain Dennis DeSantis will lead the department on an interim basis while the City recruits its next police chief.
