BULLHEAD CITY — The Bullhead City Fire District is proud to announce that Fire Marshal Barbie Barrett has been awarded the Frank J. Molina Distinguished Service Award by the Arizona Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators (AZIAAI). This prestigious honor was presented to Barrett during the 2025 AZIAAI Annual Training Conference by longtime colleague and International Liaison Keith Paffrath.
Barrett, a dedicated member of the Arizona Chapter since 2008, was selected from multiple nominations recognizing her extraordinary service, leadership, and unwavering commitment to fire investigation and professional development throughout the state. She currently serves double duty on the AZIAAI’s Education and Training Committee and as Chapter Secretary.
“Barbie Barrett is the embodiment of dedication,” said Keith Paffrath during the presentation. “She has invested countless hours, often during personal adversity, to elevate the education and professionalism of investigators in Arizona. Her vision and persistence have transformed our training program into one of the best in the nation.”
This year, Barbie led the successful overhaul of the AZIAAI’s core fire investigation curriculum, resulting in a high-quality, four-part training series now widely regarded as second only to that of the National Fire Academy. Despite personal challenges, Barrett never wavered in her duties and continued to lead by example.
Her tireless efforts, collaborative leadership, and innovative thinking have left a lasting impact on the organization, and her recognition is deeply fitting for an award that honors the legacy of Frank J. Molina, a trailblazing fire marshal, investigator, and mentor whose life and work helped shape Arizona’s fire investigation community.
