
BULLHEAD CITY – A 17-month partial term on the Bullhead City Council became available upon the resignation of former Councilman Mark R. Clark when he accepted the position of Utilities Director with the City. The term will begin in June 2021 and expire in November 2022.
Applications to serve on the City Council for the partial term are available from the Bullhead City Clerk’s Office, and posted on the city’s website, www.bullheadcity.com. To qualify for this appointment, an applicant must be 18 years of age, have resided in the City for at least one year prior to the appointment, be a registered voter, and submit their application to the City Clerk no later than Tuesday, June 1, at 5 p.m.
The Bullhead City Council has adopted procedures that dictate the process that shall be followed in order to fill a vacancy on the City Council. Candidates will be interviewed by a Citizen Nominating Committee will rank all applicants and will jointly recommend five committee nominees to the Bullhead City Council.
Interviews with the Nominating Committee are tentatively scheduled to be held on June 7, 2021 in the Bullhead City Council Chambers. The Bullhead City Council plans to appoint the successful candidate at the June 15, 2021 Council meeting.
The successful appointee would fill the Council seat through November of 2022. The remaining two year-term for that seat must be filled by election during the 2022 election cycle. The individual appointed to the 17-month term does not have to run for elected office, but has the option to become a candidate in November 2022.
