BLM approves UNS Electric 230kV line project

KINGMAN — The Bureau of Land Management, Kingman Field Office has issued a Decision Record and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) based on the analysis provided in the UniSource Golden Valley 230kV Line Project Environmental Assessment (EA) DOI-BLM-AZ-C010-2018-0012-EA. 


The Decision Record approves the preferred E1 East Cerbat alternative, which allows for the construction of a 17-mile-long, 230-kilovolt (kV), electric transmission line and substation in the Kingman and Golden Valley region. This project has been designed to help improve reliability, replace aging equipment, and support the future energy needs of customers in Mohave County. The new transmission line would supply a projected 5-35 megawatt increase in customer energy needs over the next decade in the north Golden Valley area.


“The approval of this transmission line project will increase capacity for the electric grid in the northern Golden Valley area, improving energy efficiency and reliability in a region that is fast growing,” said BLM Colorado River District Manager William Mack, Jr.
