BHC woman, others killed in wrong-way crash

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) said a Bullhead City woman was driving the wrong way on US-95 in Las Vegas when the 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser she was operating struck four other vehicles on Saturday, Dec. 9. The driver, Antonia Apton, 50, was fatally injured as was another female adult and a child.

An NHP news release said Apton was southbound in the northbound lane of the highway when her PT Cruiser first struck a 2022 GMC Acadia and then a 2014 Kia Soul near the Durango off-ramp at about 3:10 p.m. “The undercarriage of the Chrysler struck two additional vehicles that were parked on the left shoulder, then came to rest on its side,” the news release said.

The NHP said Apton was dead at the scene of the crash, as was the driver of the Acadia, Karen Foote, 63, Sparks, Nev. “A juvenile passenger in the 2014 Kia Soul was transported to an area hospital and succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash and was pronounced deceased on Dec. 11,” the release said.

The accident remains under investigation.
