MOHAVE COUNTY – The Lake Havasu City Police Department is conducting an independent investigation of an officer-involved shooting in Bullhead City. The incident occurred at about 11:23 p.m. on Feb. 14.

Lt. Kyle Ridgway said Bullhead City police officers were dispatched to the 2900 block of Camino De Rio Drive after a caller reported being flagged down by a male subject armed with a knife who claimed he had committed a residential burglary.

“The preliminary investigation indicates that upon arrival, officers made contact with the subject, who immediately fled on foot,” Ridgway said. “Following a brief pursuit, the subject failed to comply with verbal commands and was observed holding a knife.”

Ridgway said the man was shot as he advanced toward officers.

“The suspect was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was later transferred to a hospital in Las Vegas for additional treatment,” Ridgway said.

No officers were injured. The name of the suspect is initially withheld.
