
BULLHEAD CITY – The City of Bullhead City has various Commission and Board seats available for citizens to serve. The City Clerk’s Office is currently accepting applications from citizens interested in volunteering for the following positions:
The Bullhead Area Transit System Commission (BATS) makes recommendations to the City Council regarding the development and maintenance of a public transportation system for the city. One seat is available.
The Board of Adjustment hears and decides appeals of actions taken by the Zoning Administrator and meets on an as-needed basis. There is a residency requirement to serve on the Board of Adjustment. Three seats are available.
The Building Board of Appeals determines the suitability of alternate materials and methods of construction and to provide reasonable interpretation of the International Building Code and meets infrequently on an as-needed basis. Five seats are available.
The Municipal Property Corporation oversees the bond financing of the cost of construction and improvements to municipal properties and facilities and meets on an annual basis. One seat is available.
The Parks and Recreation Commission provides recommendations to the City Council regarding the planning, development, operation and maintenance of city-owned parks, and recreational programs, and meets on a monthly basis. Two seats are available with two-year terms.
The Planning and Zoning Commission provides recommendations to the City Council as to the best present and future use to which land and buildings shall be put within the city and meets on a monthly basis. There is a residency requirement to serve on the Planning and Zoning Commission. Three seats are available with two-year terms.
The Public Safety Retirement Board serves as the review board for the public safety retirement system and meets on an as-needed basis. One citizen-at-large position is available to fill a four-year term.
To be eligible, an applicant should have a general understanding of the issues addressed by the Commission or Board seat they are applying for.

Appointments are made by the Bullhead City Council. Those submitting applications to the City Clerk prior to June 1, 2021, at 5 p.m. will be considered for appointment at the June 15, 2021, City Council meeting. Applicants are encouraged to attend this meeting.
