Basha’s invites residents to share their favorite donut flavors

Kids and grown-ups alike encouraged to enter grocer’s annual Donut Flavor Craze Contest, now through May 17

Because we have all been dreaming of traveling again, Bashas’ themed its annual donut contest around inspirational global flavors this year.

Fried dough is a much-loved indulgence not just in Arizona, but all over the world. That is why Bashas’ is inviting Arizona kids and grown-ups to draw some inspiration from their previous travels and dream up the best new flavor for the hometown grocer’s donut cases.

Whether it is a country’s particular style of donut – like the Portuguese Malasada or German Berliner – or a delicious international flavor – like Crème Brûlée or Tiramisu – Bashas’ is looking to be inspired by global creations and is giving two lucky winners (one kid and one grown-up) the chance to win.

Now through May 17, Arizona entrants are invited to submit their favorite global donut flavor. From sweet to savory and everything in-between, creativity is encouraged! Kids ages 8-17 and grown-ups ages 18+ are invited to share a 100-word description of their best global donut idea, including the proposed name, key ingredients, and donut description, at: bashas.com/flavorcraze

Each winner will receive $500 worth of prizes including a Bashas’ grocery gift card, baking/cooking gadgets, family-fun activities, and one dozen donuts every month for a year. The two winning donuts will also be available for purchase in Bashas’ donut cases for a limited time this summer, which already features a whopping 59 varieties.

Submissions will be accepted now until 11:59 p.m. MDT on May 17, 2021. A panel of celebrity judges will select 10 finalists (five kids and five grown-ups) by May 24, followed by two winning donuts (one kid, one grown-up) on June 1, just in time for National Donut Day on June 4. The winning donuts will be featured in Bashas’ bakery cases across the state during the month of June, joining the grocer’s other made-from-scratch treats, including donuts, fritters, croissants, Danishes, brownies, frosted cookies, cakes, cupcakes, and more.

In addition to having their winning donuts featured in Bashas’ bakery departments across the state, the two winners (one kid and one grown-up) will be named Bashas’ Official Bashas’ Donut Ambassadors for 2021 and receive $500 worth of prizes including a Bashas’ gift card, baking/cooking gadgets, family-fun activities, and one dozen donuts every month for a year. Runner-ups will receive a $50 Bashas’ gift card, and Honorable Mentions will receive a $20 Bashas’ gift card.
