Two rescued from sea plane incident

Two men were rescued from a sea plane on the Colorado River near Lake Havasu last Friday, Jan. 24. Mohave County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said the agency received a report of an aircraft in the water at about 5:45 p.m. Mortensen said personnel responded to the Refuge area of the lake, north of the mouth of the Colorado River. KINGMAN – The outside right lane will be closed to vehicles travelling north bound at the intersection of Beale Street and Ella’s Place/Grandview Avenue for the continuing construction of the Andy Devine Avenue ADA improvements project. Lane restrictions at this intersection will also be required in Beale Street for motorists traveling east bound. Lake Mead roads to receive $5.6 million in improvements

BOULDER CITY, Nev. – A $5.6 million pavement preservation project to improve roads within Lake Mead National Recreation Area will begin in early February. The project will include cleaning, patching, resurfacing and re-marking roads and parking areas at Katherine Landing, Temple Bar, Eldorado Canyon, South Cove and the park headquarters and warehouse complex. Once completed, it will enhance the visitor experience and meet the park’s maintenance needs. BHC Police Department stepping up its game

BULLHEAD CITY – The Bullhead City Police Department was recently awarded the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) 2020. Funds will be used the acquire new traffic enforcement equipment and to participate in the Arizona Department of Transportation’s (ADOT) TraCS program. The GOHS Grant awarded $8,064 to purchase speed enforcement equipment and digital speed sign traffic cloud software. Girls sweep top spelling bee spots

MOHAVE COUNTY – Girls swept the top three spots in the annual Mohave County Spelling Bee. Top spellers from 21 schools in northwest Arizona faced off for the January 24 spelling championship in Kingman. Mariyah Rosales, a fifth grade student from Manzanita Elementary in Kingman, topped the field for the title. Rosales correctly spelled “topography” and “obstinate” to win the bee in the 20th round of the competition.
